19 March 2015 – Apprentices & Learning – Manchester

Join us for the first Manchester HR Exchange event of 2015 which will focus on the topic of Apprentices & Learning.

Event Details

Following on from the National Apprenticeship Week, which runs from 9th to 13th March, we will look at how your business could benefit from an apprentice; what an apprentice training contract should cover and how to deal with HR issues that may arise with your apprentices so that you are fully prepared to deal with those situations.

Did you know that 96% of employers who take on apprentices report benefits, whilst 72% report improved productivity as a result of employing an apprentice? If you’re considering hiring an apprentice, then come and learn of the advantages it could bring to your business, And if you already have apprentices in your organisation, we’ll give you the advice and guidance you need on how to manage them as part of your workforce.

We will be joined at the event by guest speaker, Alison Bagnall, Managing Director of The Apprentice Academy and PWG Training who will discuss the future needs of the Manchester skills market and whether apprentices can fill any skills gaps.

The Apprentice Academy has placed over 700 school and college leavers in business and digital marketing apprenticeships throughout Greater Manchester and PWG Training has provided training to over 2,000 of the North West’s leaders and managers. The company’s clients range from large organisations, such as AstraZeneca and Network Rail, to fast-growing SMEs. Since joining the company in 2001, Alison has developed a deep expertise in leadership and management, employee engagement, workforce planning and business productivity.

We’ll then look at the topic from a legal perspective; hiring an apprentice, getting the contractual documentation right and managing an apprentice through a training contract and career expectations afterwards.

We will also have an extended employment law update; we’ll bring you up to speed on key Tribunal cases from the end of 2014 and what they mean to your business, as well as focusing your attention on forthcoming developments, which you’ll need to build into your business plans and strategies for 2015.

And we’re introducing a new feature to the agenda this year; at each event, we’ll offer delegates the opportunity to ‘Ask the Experts’ any questions they may have; whether it be relating to HR & employment law, leadership, talent management or recruitment, we’re here to give you our expert help and guidance. If you have a question you’d like to ask, then please drop me an email ahead of the event (we can, of course, keep your question anonymous if you’d prefer!)
